NDT4INDUSTRY – Recent developments in advanced NDT
"From fiber to component – Current testing and monitoring techniques for CFRP" NDT4INDUSTRY goes Webseminar Wednesday! For our next seminar, we are pleased to accept the invitation from Composites United e.V. to present our expertise in the testing of CFRP as part of Webseminar Wednesday. Carbon fibre-reinforced components are used for highly stressed structures, not only because of their comparatively low weight, but above all because of their high strength. These include containers and pressure vessels as well as vehicle components or support structures. Whether in environmental, energy or process engineering – who monitors critical parameters on key plant components and processes, detects weak spots at an early stage and can thus reduce downtimes, increase employee safety, and reduce operating costs in the long term. At Fraunhofer IKTS automated testing and monitoring technologies are developed based on ultrasonics and eddy current for the detection of manufacturing defects such as delamination or deviations in layer alignment during series production. In our next seminar, Martin Schulze and Kilian Tschöke present for example systems for the testing of multiaxial high-performance carbon fiber fabrics (NCF) in full production width or the non-destructive testing and permanent monitoring of H2 pressure vessels. Fraunhofer IKTS provides the entire development chain of a monitoring system: from the model-based design of the sensor networks, through the production and integration of the sensors, to the development and provision of the necessary measuring hardware to the testing in our accredited test laboratory. This webinar provides an overview of current non-destructive testing and monitoring techniques, presents system integration options and discusses the possibilities and limitations of the methods. | Please register via the event webpage www.ndt4industry.com | Contact: info@ndt4industry.com | Date: September 18, 2024, 9 a.m. CEST | Costs: free of charge

MPA Seminar 2024 - MATERIALS PROCESSES APPLICATIONS
The intricate interaction between materials, processes, and applications is the backbone of innovation and performance optimization. Materials must be carefully selected and designed to meet the specific demands of various applications, considering factors like strength, durability, and thermal resistance. In contrast to their continuum mechanical models, real materials have a real microstructure with imperfections, anisotropy, segregations, discontinuities, pores and residual stresses. These result from the respective manufacturing process of the material or component and have a significant influence on the material behavior and structural integrity in safety-critical applications. This dynamic relationship among materials, processes, and applications is a key focal point in advancing several sub-fields in mechanical engineering, with each element influencing the overall success of mechanical engineering endeavors. 3 days – 6 sessions: Hydrogen | Advanced Manufacturing | German Energy Revolution | Big Data and AI | Structural Materials Modelling | NDT of complex Materials
